2010 Opening Day #2: Derrek Lee

Derek Lee started his career a long time ago in 1997 with the San Diego Padres. He got traded to the Florida Marlins in 1998. When he was with the Marlins, he led the Marlins to their second World Series victory in 2003. He got traded to the Chicago Cubs for Hee-seop Choi. He was the best NL hitter in 2005. He made it to the 2006 World Classic. He also led the Chicago Cubs to their 1st place finish in 2008. I have four different Derrek Lee cards and this one makes five.

2010 Opening Day #1: Prince Fielder

Prince Fielder started his career in 2005 with the Milwaukee Brewers. His father played baseball too. His name was Cecil Fielder. Prince did get better than Cecil. He was in a McDonald's commericial in 1992. His team lost in the 2008 playoffs against the Philidelphia Phillies. But in 2009, he won the 2009 Home Run Derby. He beat Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers with Brewer Ryan Braun's bat. Whenever he hits a walkoff homerun, he tumbles all [not all] the Brewers when he puts his arms straight out at home plate and the Brewers fall except himself. The Brewers won't get tumbled this year if he hits a special home run this year on a special day.

Welcome Baseball Fans!

With this blog, you will be reading the efforts of likely the youngest baseball blogger on the internet, my 8-year old son, Christian.

My previous efforts have been over at the 1980 Topps Baseball, a site that my son has been looking over my shoulder on. He has provided many ideas and thoughts that have found their way into my blog.

When he announced earlier this weekend that he would like a blogger site too, this site was born.

My efforts on this blog will be minimal. I don't plan on any making any posts after this one. I will help him with scanning photos and posting links here and there, but the ideas and text will be all his. He will be starting with his 2010 Topps Opening Day set, but I am sure that things will deviate in other directions.

As always, any words of encouragement, suggestions or critiques will be helpful as we move forward.
