Pocket Schedule Sunday: 2009 Florida Marlins

I am doing Pocket Schedule Sunday almost every Sunday!

It has Jorge Cantu on the front. I like that. It has the promotions, my favorite is the Easter Egg hunt at Dolphis Stadium. It has the seating. It has the 2009 schedule. The home and away games have logos of the teams and are different colors for home and away. It's where you want to be!

2010 Opening Day #4 Orlando Cabrera

Orlando Cabrera started his career in 1997 with the Montreal Expos. He got traded to the Boston Red Sox in a three-team trade in 2004 for Nomar Garciaparra and Doug Mientkiewiecz. He helped the team to victory in 2004, when he helped the Red Sox to the World Series. Then they traded him to the Anaheim Angels in 2005 for David Eckstien. In 2006, he got on base in 63 straight games.

In 2008, he got traded to the Chicago White Sox for Jon Garland. He helped the White Sox make it to the 2008 playoffs. He got traded to the Oakland Atheltics in 2009. He got traded in the same year to the Minnesota Twins for cash conversations and Tyler Landendorf. He then got traded to the Cincinnati Reds for 1 year, where is today.
His nickname is O-Cab.

This Week In Baseball: Christian Edition

I watch This Week in Baseball on Saturday, and this is my edition!

We leadoff with a home run hit by Milwaukee's Corey Hart. The Brewers tip the mug on
the Mets when they win 2-0.

Chase Utley and Ryan Howard hit RBI's to help the Phillies go crazy to beat the Marlins 3-2.

David Ross helped the Braves beat the Pirates when he hit's his seconnd double of the season. The score was 7-3.

At Coors Field, Manny Ramirez goes past Mike Schimdt in the HR list. The Dodgers carry the Rockies, 5-4.

The Mariner's Cliff Lee struck out 10 Angels, Milton Bradley drives 3 runs, and Jose Lopez hits his second homer. The Mariners fish out the Angels 8-3.

The voting leaders for the All-Star game are the Twins catcher Joe Mauer in the American League and Cardinals first baseman in the National League.

2010 Opening Day # 3 Clayton Kershaw and update

I was away on a couple of days playing baseball. My team is the Cubs [like Derrek Lee I posted from last post], and we won! I had three hits and scored three runs.
And now the first pitcher! Clayton Kershaw's uncle was the man who discovered Pluto [the planet not the dog]! He started his career in 2008 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and is their best pitcher. He pitched his first famous curveball in a spring training game against the Boston Red Sox. He made his debut in 2008 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Clayton led the Dodgers to the National League Playoffs the last two seasons.

2010 Opening Day #2: Derrek Lee

Derek Lee started his career a long time ago in 1997 with the San Diego Padres. He got traded to the Florida Marlins in 1998. When he was with the Marlins, he led the Marlins to their second World Series victory in 2003. He got traded to the Chicago Cubs for Hee-seop Choi. He was the best NL hitter in 2005. He made it to the 2006 World Classic. He also led the Chicago Cubs to their 1st place finish in 2008. I have four different Derrek Lee cards and this one makes five.

2010 Opening Day #1: Prince Fielder

Prince Fielder started his career in 2005 with the Milwaukee Brewers. His father played baseball too. His name was Cecil Fielder. Prince did get better than Cecil. He was in a McDonald's commericial in 1992. His team lost in the 2008 playoffs against the Philidelphia Phillies. But in 2009, he won the 2009 Home Run Derby. He beat Nelson Cruz of the Texas Rangers with Brewer Ryan Braun's bat. Whenever he hits a walkoff homerun, he tumbles all [not all] the Brewers when he puts his arms straight out at home plate and the Brewers fall except himself. The Brewers won't get tumbled this year if he hits a special home run this year on a special day.

Welcome Baseball Fans!

With this blog, you will be reading the efforts of likely the youngest baseball blogger on the internet, my 8-year old son, Christian.

My previous efforts have been over at the 1980 Topps Baseball, a site that my son has been looking over my shoulder on. He has provided many ideas and thoughts that have found their way into my blog.

When he announced earlier this weekend that he would like a blogger site too, this site was born.

My efforts on this blog will be minimal. I don't plan on any making any posts after this one. I will help him with scanning photos and posting links here and there, but the ideas and text will be all his. He will be starting with his 2010 Topps Opening Day set, but I am sure that things will deviate in other directions.

As always, any words of encouragement, suggestions or critiques will be helpful as we move forward.
